"Then it doesn't matter which way you go," said the Cheshire Cat.

Alice talks to Cheshire cat in Alice in Wonderland. The Cheshire Cate is the only Character in Alice in Wonderland which really listens and reacts to Alice.
One such Conversation goes as Follows which can be used as a metaphor for Direction of purpose. Without a direction everything appears Random and Confused and there is no sense of Accomplishment.

The Cheshire Cat is one of the best BadAss Characters in the Novel.

"Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?"
"That depends a good deal on where you want to get to," said the Cat.
"I don't much care where ..." said Alice.
"Then it doesn't matter which way you go," said the Cat.
